Captain America: The First Avenger Plot

During WWII, Steve Rogers decides to participate in an experiment that will transform his frail body. To defend his country, he must now fight a secret Nazi organization led by Johann Schmidt.

During World War II, a frail man named Steve Rogers is transformed into Captain America, a super-soldier who must stop the Red Skull (Weaving) from using the Tesseract as an energy source for world dominance.

Captain America: The First Avenger Narrative

Barnes, Dum Dum Dugan, Gabe Jones, Jim Morita, James Montgomery Falsworth, and Jacques Dernier are recruited by Rogers to attack other Hydra bases. Rogers is given advanced equipment by Stark, including a circular vibranium shield, which is a rare, nearly indestructible metal. Rogers and his team sabotage various Hydra operations while falling in love with Carter. The team attacks a train carrying Zola in 1945.

Rogers refuses to believe Barnes is dead, so he has Carter and engineer Howard Stark fly him behind enemy lines in an attempt to save him alone. Rogers infiltrates Schmidt’s Hydra division’s fortress, freeing Barnes and the other detainees. Schmidt confronts Rogers, who removes a mask to reveal a red, skull-like face, earning him the moniker “the Red Skull.” Schmidt is able to flee, and Rogers returns to base with the soldiers who have been freed.

The Tesseract burns through the plane and sinks to the bottom of the sea. Rogers radios Carter and bids her farewell before crashing in the Arctic, seeing no way to land the plane without risking detonating its weapons. Stark recovers the Tesseract from the ocean floor later, but is unable to locate Rogers or the aircraft, leading him to believe he is dead.
