Doctor Strange Plot

Stephen Strange, a well-known neurosurgeon, suffers a hand injury in an accident. He travels to the mysterious Ancient One to heal himself, and under her tutelage, he becomes a great sorcerer.

Strange learns the mystic arts after a career-ending car accident in the film.

Doctor Strange Narrative

The sorcerer Kaecilius and his zealots enter the secret compound Kamar-Taj in Kathmandu and behead its librarian. They steal a few pages from an ancient, mystical text belonging to the Ancient One, a long-lived sorcerer who has taught the mystic arts to every student at Kamar-Taj, including Kaecilius. The traitors are pursued by the Ancient One, but Kaecilius and his followers flee.

Dr. Stephen Strange, a wealthy, acclaimed, and arrogant neurosurgeon in New York City, suffers severe hand injuries in a car accident while en route to a speaking conference, rendering him permanently unable to operate. Christine Palmer, a fellow surgeon, tries to help him move on, but Strange pursues experimental surgeries to heal his hands in vain. Strange discovers the story of Jonathan Pangborn, a paraplegic who mysteriously regained use of his legs.

Strange studies under the Ancient One and Mordo, and from ancient books in the library that is now guarded by Master Wong. He discovers that Earth is shielded from threats from other dimensions by a shield generated by three Sanctums in New York City, London, and Hong Kong, all of which are directly accessible from Kamar-Taj. The task of the sorcerers is to protect the Sanctums, but Pangborn chose to channel mystical energy only into walking again.
