Fistful of Vengeance Plot

When superpowered assassin Kai tracks a murderer to Bangkok, a vengeance mission turns into a battle to save the world from an ancient threat.

In Fistful of Vengeance, the Wu Assassin team reassembles in Bangkok to avenge the death of one of their own, only to discover that their new foe is an ancient threat armed with otherworldly powers.

Fistful of Vengeance Narrative

Fistful of Vengeance is a one-part adventure film and one-part hard action film that manages to expand the world of the Wu Assassins without feeling bloated or overly exposition-heavy. This is largely due to the emphasis on action sequences and character relationship moments that show rather than tell you what’s going on at any given time.

As a sequel, comparisons to the series are unavoidable, and Fistful of Vengeance, in my opinion, is able to go places that the series could not. This not only helps the film stand out from the series, but it also helps it improve. For starters, there is no sense of Fistful of Vengeance pulling any punches. It’s bloodier and more violent than the series.

One very special aspect of the film is its ability to combine a gritty and grimy action thriller with all of the fantasy and magic we’ve come to expect from the series. It goes without saying that Uwais and Tan perform admirably in this film. Fistful of Vengeance knows how to use shocking moments to advance the plot, how to use violence in a way that never feels out of place, and how to treat action as important as dialogue.
