House of Gucci Plot

When Patrizia Reggiani, an outsider from humble beginnings, marries into the Gucci family, her unbridled ambition begins to unravel their legacy and sets in motion a reckless spiral of betrayal, decadence, revenge, and, eventually…murder.

The film follows Patrizia Reggiani and Maurizio Gucci as their romance turns into a struggle for control of the Italian fashion house Gucci. Other cast members include Jared Leto, Jeremy Irons, Salma Hayek, and Al Pacino.

House of Gucci Narrative

Patrizia begins to plan a scheme to gain control of Gucci by acquiring some of Aldo and Paolo’s shares (the two hold the other 50 percent interest). She clashes with Aldo over the firm’s covert sale of cheap “fake” Gucci products on the black market, and she seeks advice from psychic Giuseppina “Pina.” She persuades Maurizio, who has little genuine interest in Gucci, to take a more active role within the company.

Paolo obtains proof that Aldo has been evading taxes in the United States; he gives the proof to Patrizia in exchange for her promise to allow him to design his own line. The IRS arrests Aldo and sentences him to a year and a day in prison. Patrizia lies to the Italian police, telling them that Paolo is not authorized to use the Gucci trademark; the police forcefully halt the fashion show. Patrizia and Maurizio approach Paolo and ask him to sell them his shares, but he refuses and cuts ties with them.

Police in Italy raid Maurizio’s home and attempt to arrest him for forging Rodolfo’s signature. Maurizio and Patrizia flee to Switzerland, where Maurizio re-encounters an old friend, Paola Franchi. Following an argument with Patrizia, Maurizio decides that he is tired of his wife’s influence on himself and the company. He sends his wife and daughter back to Italy and begins an affair with Paola, which Pina appears to detect.
