Katara and Sokka, two kin from the Southern Water Tribe, find a kid caught inside an ice shelf coasting on the ocean. They free him and he presents himself as Aang, an Airbender of the Air Nomads—a culture accepted to be terminated for a long time. Aang and his flying six-legged sky buffalo, Appa, go with Katara and Sokka to their town. In the interim, Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation, joined by his uncle Iroh, is watching the encompassing waters looking for the Avatar, a legendary gigantically ground-breaking drinking spree who can twist each of the four components.

In the wake of focusing on Fire Nation the town, Aang is exiled, in spite of Katara’s protests. Zuko before long slides on the town and requests the Avatar be given up to him. Aang comes back to the town to protect it, where he uncovers that he is, actually, the Avatar. He at that point gives up himself to Zuko on condition that the residents are disregarded, to which Zuko concurs. Katara and Sokka then choose to seek after Aang on Appa.
