Clarice Plot

A look at FBI agent Clarice Starling’s untold personal story as she returns to the field about a year after the events of The Silence of the Lambs (1991).

It is based on Thomas Harris’ best-selling novel The Silence of the Lambs and takes place between the events of the 1991 film and Hannibal Lecter (2001).

Clarice Narrative

Despite Starling’s reservations, United States Attorney General Ruth Martin, the mother of the only girl Starling was able to save from Bill, assigns Starling to her new VICAP task force, a team dedicated to hunting down murderers, serial killers, and sexual predators. The task force commander, Paul Krendler, who she had previously outmaneuvered and shown up in finding Buffalo Bill and who is dismissive of her methods and public stardom, gives her a cold welcome.

Clarice Starling and the rest of the FBI’s VICAP team are dispatched to Tennessee, where local and federal authorities are locked in a standoff at a heavily armed militia compound. Clarice takes the lead in the negotiations after meeting a young boy who has snuck out of the compound. He informs the group’s leader, Novak (Tim Guinee), of Clarice’s presence. Novak insists that he will only negotiate with her.
