Invasion Narrative

In Long Island, we meet an immigrant couple (Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani as Aneesha Malik and Israeli Firas Nassar as Ahmed) whose marriage is on the verge of falling apart and is saved by exploding houses. We shift from Scenes From a Marriage to A Quiet Place as they flee with their two small children.

In Afghanistan, a Special Forces soldier witnesses the annihilation of his whole unit and is forced to rely on the generosity of locals in whose nation he is both stranger and invader. It would be so much easier if he spoke their language or could stop brandishing his gun at everyone he met.

In a scene reminiscent of Denis Villeneuve’s masterpiece Arrival, Japanese space agency communications specialist Mitsuki is determined to contact the aliens who appear to have destroyed the space shuttle carrying her girlfriend. In the United Kingdom, a school bus crashes off a cliff and into a massive pit, killing the lone adult on board and leaving the children to figure out the new rules of existence in this terrifying new world. It doesn’t take long to figure out who the Piggy, Jack, and Ralph are.
