La Brea Plot

A massive sinkhole mysteriously opens up in Los Angeles, separating a family and a desperate group of strangers in an unexplainable primeval world.

When a massive sinkhole forms in the middle of Los Angeles near the La Brea Tar Pits and Wilshire Boulevard, it pulls hundreds of people, vehicles, and buildings (including the distinctive Petersen Automotive Museum) into its depths.

When a massive sinkhole forms in the middle of Los Angeles near the La Brea Tar Pits and Wilshire Boulevard, it pulls hundreds of people, vehicles, and buildings (including the distinctive Petersen Automotive Museum) into its depths. The survivors are trapped in a mysterious and dangerous primeval land, and they must band together to survive.

The show follows a family (father, mother, son, and daughter) who have been separated by events and are attempting to reunite. The father has visions that show him when and where his wife and son are. The sinkhole and the sudden appearance of the Teratornis have piqued the interest of the US Department of Homeland Security, which is investigating a similar event in the Mojave Desert.

As the series progresses, the investigators discover that the sinkholes serve as a temporary portal to the same location 10,000 years ago. Meanwhile, the survivors are frantically trying to find a way back through the portal before it closes.
