Only Murders in the Building Plot

Three strangers who share an obsession with true crime suddenly find themselves caught up in one.

After a suspicious death in their affluent Upper West Side apartment building, the Arconia, The three neighbours decide to start their own podcast about their investigation of the death, which the police ruled a suicide.

Only Murders in the Building Narrative

Howard is a prime suspect, according to Charles, Oliver, and Mabel, who discovered his cat’s pawprints in Tim’s blood. Bunny threatens Oliver with eviction if he does not pay his building fees. He approaches his old friend Teddy and begs for money; after initially refusing, Teddy agrees to sponsor the podcast. Later, Oliver sees Sting in the elevator and suspects him as well.

Oliver suspects Sting of poisoning Winnie and enlists the assistance of Charles and Mabel to prove he is responsible for both Winnie’s poisoning and Tim’s murder. Following a consultation with Cinda Canning, the host of their favorite podcast, the trio presents Sting with a turkey and questions him about Tim, who is revealed to be Sting’s former stockbroker. Sting confesses guiltily after Tim loses a large sum of money.

Mabel is pursued by “Tie-Dye Guy,” who turns out to be her old friend Oscar, who was recently released from prison for Zoe’s murder. He offers to drive her to her destination, which turns out to be Bayport, New York, on Long Island. When Charles and Oliver see Mabel leave the Arconia, they decide to follow her to Bayport. They eventually end up in a tattoo parlor, where Mabel finally admits to knowing Tim.
