Resident Alien Plot

In 1977, NASA dispatched two interstellar tests into space, each containing a brilliant record that classified life on Earth including pictures of sheet music and a mother breastfeeding, melodies by Mozart and Chuck Berry, and welcome in 55 dialects. In Syfy’s Resident Alien, in light of the comic book series by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse, a grandiose voyager crash-arrives on Earth and, attempting to mix in, realizes what he can about the planet not through a cautiously curated prologue to mankind, but rather with custom made self-training. He gets human discourse, for instance, by watching and parroting the characters from TV shows like Law and Order, building up a sound appreciation for Jerry Orbach and hammy jokes.

Through flashbacks, we discover that Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle, as the outsider comes to be known, was flying over Earth determined to destroy mankind when lightning struck his boat, marooning him on our planet. He murdered and accepted the personality of the genuine Dr. Vanderspeigle, and now digs in a lakeside lodge, wandering out just to scour Colorado’s snow-covered mountains for his missing weapon of mass obliteration.
