Squid Game Plot

Hundreds of cash-strapped contestants agree to compete in children’s games for a tempting prize, but the stakes are lethal.

Seong Gi-hun, a divorced father and indebted gambler who lives with his elderly mother, is invited to participate in a series of children’s games for a chance to win a large sum of money.

Squid Game Narrative

Jun-ho successfully infiltrates the games while disguised as a masked worker, and the location is revealed to be a remote island. The players have become more prepared and have begun to form alliances. Gi-hun, Sang-woo, Player 001, and Player 199 form an alliance. Player 067 investigates an air vent and comes across workers melting sugar pots. The second game is revealed to be Ppopgi, in which each player must perfectly extract a stamped shape from a dalgona within a time limit of 10 minutes.

Sang-woo learns of Player 067’s discovery and recognizes the game ahead of time, but fails to warn his teammates and opts for the simplest shape for himself. Gi-hun chooses the most difficult shape, an umbrella, but is able to finish the game by licking the back of the honeycomb to melt it. With the help of a smuggled lighter, Player 212, a rowdy and manipulative woman, assists Deok-su in completing the game. A terrified player who is about to be executed kidnaps a staff member and forces him to unmask.

In exchange for information on upcoming games, Player 111, a disgraced doctor, secretly works with a small group of staff to harvest organs from dead players to sell on the black market. When Deok-su kills a player after accusing him of stealing food, the staff does nothing to stop him, and the prize money is increased in value. After the lights go out, a riot breaks out in the dormitory as players attack one another.
