The Expanse Plot

In the 24th century, a group of humans untangles a massive plot that threatens the Solar System’s fragile peace.

The Expanse is a thriller set two hundred years in the future that follows the case of a missing young woman, which brings together a hardened detective and a rogue ship’s captain in a race across the solar system to expose the greatest conspiracy in human history.

The Expanse Narrative

Dawes interrogates and tortures Miller on Ceres, demanding to know what he has learned about Julie. Miller, along with fellow officer Octavia Muss, escapes and discovers revealing information on a hidden data cube, revealing a major secret. When Miller informs his boss of his discovery, she fires him and seizes all case information. Avasarala desires a spy on Tycho Station and resorts to extortion in order to obtain one.

Holden and his crew arrive at Tycho Station, with Fred Johnson planning to use Holden’s testimony to gain UN legitimacy. Holden forms an uneasy alliance, disclosing everything he knows about the Canterbury and the MCRN Donnager’s destruction. Johnson appears to be fairly certain that neither Earth nor Mars was responsible for the attacks. After disguising the Rocinante as a simple gas hauler, they set out for Eros in search of a possible Scopuli survivor.

Avasarala learns of Holden’s troubled childhood and gains some insight into his recent decisions during a visit to Holden’s co-op parents’ house in Montana. On their way to Eros, the crew of the Rocinante discovers too late that Kenzo, a spy from Tycho station, is aboard and has drawn the attention of a Martian patrol. Kenzo assists in retrieving the MCRN codebook from the ship’s safe, and the patrol backs off after a few code words, believing the Rocinante to be a Martian black ops ship.
