Iron Man 3 Plot

The Mandarin, a formidable foe, confronts Tony Stark. Tony embarks on a journey of self-discovery as he fights the powerful Mandarin after failing to defeat his foe.

During a national terrorism campaign on the United States led by the mysterious Mandarin in Iron Man 3, Tony Stark wrestles with the ramifications of the events of The Avengers.

Iron Man 3 Narrative

Tony Stark meets scientist Maya Hansen, the inventor of Extremis, an experimental regenerative treatment that allows recovery from crippling injuries, at a New Year’s Eve party in 1999. Aldrich Killian, a disabled scientist, offers them a job at his company Advanced Idea Mechanics, but Stark declines.

Stark is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and is having frequent panic and anxiety attacks as a result of his experiences during the alien invasion and subsequent battle in December 2012, seven months after the Battle of New York. To cope with his insomnia, he has built dozens of new Iron Man suits, causing friction with his girlfriend Pepper Potts.

A lack of forensic evidence has left intelligence agencies perplexed by a string of bombings claimed by a terrorist known as the Mandarin. In one such attack at the TCL Chinese Theatre, Stark’s security chief Happy Hogan is badly injured and put into a coma, prompting Stark to issue a televised threat to the Mandarin, revealing his home address in the process. The Mandarin dispatches gunship helicopters to attack Stark’s residence.
