Lightyear Plot

While attempting to return home after being marooned for years, marooned Space Ranger Buzz Lightyear encounters an army of ruthless robots led by Zurg who are attempting to steal his fuel source.

Lightyear is the story of a young astronaut named Buzz Lightyear who, after being marooned on a hostile planet with his commander and crew, attempts to find his way home while facing a threat to the universe’s safety.

Lightyear Narrative

Buzz Lightyear, a Star Command space ranger, and his commanding officer and best friend, Alisha Hawthorne, explore T’Kani Prime with their new recruit, Featheringhamstan. They are forced to return to their exploration vessel after discovering hostile lifeforms on the planet. During the retreat, Buzz damages the vessel, forcing the crew to evacuate in order to conduct repairs and continue their journey.

One year later, the crew has established a nascent colony as well as the necessary infrastructure for repairs. Buzz volunteers to test hyperspace fuel, which is an important component of the repairs. However, after a four-minute test, he discovers that four years have passed on T’Kani Prime as a result of time dilation caused by travelling at relativistic speeds. Buzz meets Sox, a robotic feline, and continues to test the hyperspace fuel.

Buzz uses this new fuel composition for a successful hyperspace test against the orders of his new commanding officer, Commander Burnside. Buzz discovers that 22 years have passed since T’Kani Prime was invaded by Zyclops robots led by the enigmatic Zurg. Buzz meets members of the colony’s defence forces, including Izzy Hawthorne, Alisha’s now-adult granddaughter; Mo Morrison, a new, inexperienced recruit; and Darby Steel, an elderly parolee.
