The Amazing Spider-Man Plot

After being bitten by a radioactive spider, Peter Parker, an outcast high school student, gains superpowers. He is soon forced to use his skills to combat a monstrous foe.

Parker gains newfound spider-like abilities after being bitten by a genetically altered spider in the film, and sets out to save the city from the machinations of a mysterious reptilian foe.

The Amazing Spider-Man Narrative

A young Peter Parker discovers the burglary of his father Richard Parker’s study. Peter’s parents gather documents in secret, transport him to his Aunt May and Uncle Ben’s home, and then vanish. Peter is now a teen at Midtown Science High School, where he is bright but socially awkward and frequently bullied. Gwen Stacy, whom he adores, reciprocates his feelings. Peter learns that his father worked at Oscorp with scientist Dr. Curt Connors in the field of cross-species genetics.

Peter visits Connors, who is missing an arm, and examines his father’s papers. He reveals himself to be Richard’s son and hands over his father’s “decay rate algorithm,” which is the missing link in Connors’ limb regeneration experiments. Peter and Ben have a fight at home, and Peter decides to leave. Ben tries to stop a thief that Peter has let get away while looking for him, but he is shot and dies in Peter’s arms.

Before he dies, Captain Stacy asks Peter to avoid Gwen in order to keep her safe. Peter does so at first, but given their shared dissatisfaction, he suggests that he might see her after all. In a mid-credits scene, an incarcerated Connors converses with a man in the shadows, who asks if Peter knows the truth about his father. Connors is completely unconcerned about the situation and demands that Peter be left alone before vanishing.
