The Avengers Plot

When Loki threatens the planet, Nick Fury is forced to launch the Avengers Initiative. His team of superheroes worked together to complete the task.

Nick Fury and the spy agency S.H.I.E.L.D. recruit Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Bruce Banner, and Thor to form a team capable of stopping Thor’s brother Loki from subjugating Earth in the film.

The Avengers Narrative

The Other, the leader of an extraterrestrial race known as the Chitauri, meets Loki of Asgard. In exchange for the Tesseract, a powerful energy source with unknown potential, the Other promises Loki an army with which he can subjugate Earth. S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury arrives at a remote research facility where physicist Dr. Erik Selvig is leading a team experimenting on the Tesseract.

The Hulk defeats Loki and forces him to submit. Selvig, now free of Loki’s mind control, reveals that Loki’s scepter has the ability to turn off the generator. Fury’s superiors at the World Security Council try to put an end to the invasion by launching a nuclear missile at Midtown Manhattan.

Stark intercepts the missile and transports it to the Chitauri fleet via the wormhole. The missile hits the Chitauri mothership, destroying it and rendering their forces on Earth ineffective. Stark’s suit loses power, causing him to fall to the ground, but he is saved by the Hulk. Thor then returns to Asgard with Loki and the Tesseract, where Loki will be tried for their crimes.
