The Man from Toronto Plot

The plot revolves around Teddy, a New York City screw-up who is mistaken for the “Man from Toronto” when the two end up in the same Airbnb. Antics follow.

At an Airbnb rental, the world’s deadliest assassin and New York’s biggest blunder are mistaken for each other.

The Man from Toronto Narrative

Teddy Jackson, known for his gaffes such as a non-contact boxing venture, has planned the ideal anniversary surprise. He goes to prepare the secluded house he’s rented while Lori is being pampered in a spa. Teddy misreads the house number and stumbles upon a pair of thugs questioning a man. Teddy, mistaking for the vicious assassin ‘The Man from Toronto,’ plays along, getting the man to reveal a code just before the FBI arrives.

The FBI discovers that the thugs sent the code and a picture of Teddy to Colonel Marin, who intends to assassinate Venezuela’s President. The FBI forces Teddy to pose as the real Man from Toronto, whom the Colonel hired solely on the basis of his reputation for the assassination.

Teddy attends the meeting, but Daniela Marin, not the Colonel, is present. She whisks him away on a cargo plane to Puerto Rico in order to obtain a second piece of information from Mr. Green. On the plane, he meets the Man from Toronto, whose real name is Randy. Randy insists that they work together and that Teddy continue to pose as him because the Colonel has seen Teddy’s picture. Randy’s Handler objects to this plan and dispatches ‘The Man from Miami’ to clean up the mess.
